The Cost of Work

For the last couple of years I've been blaming it on a distinct lack of sleep and the intense pressures of my life, but now I've finally discovered the real reason:

I'm tired because I'm overworked. And Here's why...

* The population of this country is 275 million.

* 124 million folk are retired.

* That leaves 151 million to do the work.

* There are about 96 million in schools, leaving 55 million to do the work.

* Of this, 32 million are employed by the federal government, leaving 23 million to do the work.

* 3.4 million are in the Armed Forces, which leaves 19.6 million to do the work.

* Take from that the 17,500,000 who work for State and City Governments and that leaves 2,100,000 to do the work.

* At any time there are 232,000 people in hospitals, leaving 1,868,000 to do the work.

* Now, there are 1,867,998 people in prisons. That leaves two people to do the work.

You and me.

And you're sitting at your computer reading jokes!!!
